Luang Prabang
Tuesday, 8 November 2005
Well the day after Den's birthday....happy birthday Den.....we travelled by bus to Luang Prabang. This quiet little city has been granted UNESCO World Heritage status and you can really see why. It surrounded by unspoiled scenery and is made up of lots of old French Colonial buildings. This is a place where you could easily stay longer than you planned too.
We visited the Chomsi temple yesterday...yep another one! The views were breathtaking, see a photo of the Stupa below with gold leaf.

Luang Prabang's Beautiful Chomsi Stupa and the dodgy Phousi hotel...miaow
The food has been fantastic and we have eaten like kings for less than nothing. This has been a place for taking it easy and soaking up the cafe culture as well as recovering from the cold in managed to pick up Vang Vieng.

On the whole we will be really sad to leave Laos. Its fast becoming one of my favourite countries however I think Den still prefers New Zealand, This photo below was taken in the hallway of the 'disco' it is a US air force shell - but how can that be? The US air force never dropped any shells on Laos - did they - or so they say?.
