Topic: The longest journey ever!
Well after our fabulous few weeks in Alice we hit the road and made our way to the East Coast. We opted for the Greyhound service and caught the bus from Alice to Townsville. In total the journey took us 28 hours and we really suffered!!! We had to do an emergency stop about 500 times during the night, to try and miss another bloody kangaroo and each time it woke us up from our sleep - so we got none.

An example of one of the darling little creatures that kept us awake all night...aah
Grouchy and irritated we arrived in Townsville and went to sleep - the prospect of another 18 hours on a bus again tomorrow in our minds!
Our aim for Townsville was to complete our PADI diving course and to dive at the Great Barrier Reef. Unfortunately when we arrived for our course it had been cancelled so we had to reconsider our options and have decided to do the course in Thailand. Nothing spectacular about Townsville to report other than we arrived as the "grey people" were celebrating "Victory in the Pacific". Townsville was quite uneventful - but we gather that quite a lot does go on especially in relation to wildlife, as this picture outside a local newsagent proves.

.... err Nothing ever happens in Townsville
